ECG Machine

Most of the people should not know what an ECG machine is and how it works. But it is more familiar to the doctors and person which are engaged in the medical field. It is the common as well as important medical device which is to be found in the hospitals. Before further more discussion on ECG machine we should know that what is the full form of ECG?
ECG stands for Electrocardiogram. Now a question arises in our minds that what is its meaning? So it is used to measure and record the electrical activity of heart for a time period. Some electrodes are attached to the skin of the patient which helps in recording of the electrical activity of heart of the patient and the readings are shown in a machine that is connected to the electrodes. Readings are in the form of sound impulses. By seeing these impulses a doctor can identify are your heart works well or not. There are some up and downs in these impulses according to the condition of the patient. In this approach, the magnitude and direction of the heart's electrical change are captured at every moment throughout the oscillation. The graph of voltage versus time created by this noninvasively procedure is an ECG. The overall goal of performing arts diagnostic technique is to get data concerning the structure and performance of the guts. Medical uses for this data square measure varied and usually relate to having a necessity for data of the structure perform.

Why ECG is used?

There are some factors which are determined by an ECG machine which are given below:
·        Rate of heart beats
·        Opening of closing of heart of chambers
·        Regularity of heart beats
·        Is there any damage or problem present in the heart
·        Determine the effects of any drugs or medicines
·        Suspects any problem related to the breathing
·        Suspects structural heart diseases
·        A third heart sound, fourth heart sound, a murmur or different findings to counsel structural heart condition.
·        Perceived internal organ dysrhythmias either by pulse or palpitations.
·        Monitoring of known internal organ dysrhythmias.
·        Monitoring the consequences of a heart medication.
·        Assessing severity of solution abnormalities, like hyperkalemia.
·        As a vicinity of a pre-operative assessment someday before a surgery.

Components of ECG machine:

ü Safety features present for both patient as well as operator because an ECG machine works with help of electricity and the electrodes are attached to the body of patient so it must to have safety measures.
ü Sometimes it is necessary to have some electric signals are provided to the heart of the patient so it should be noticed that the ECG machine must be safe from these signals as they can damage the machine.
ü The common ECG machine should have a keyboard, screen, printer and a small wheeled car.
ü Any electrocardiogram employed in aid is also connected to someone World Health Organization needs medical care and also the cardiograph has to defend itself from this supply of energy.

Working of ECG machine:

ECG records the electrical activity generated by heart muscle depolarization, which propagate in pulsating electrical waves towards the skin. Although the electricity quantity is if truth be told terribly little, it may be picked up faithfully with graph electrodes connected to the skin (data unit: potential unit, UV).The full ECG setup comprises at least four electrodes which are placed on the chest or at the four extremities according to standard nomenclature (RA = right arm; LA = left arm; RL = right leg; LL = left leg). Of course, variations of this setup exist in order to allow more flexible and less intrusive recordings, for example, by attaching the electrodes to the fore arms and legs. ECG electrodes area unit generally wet sensors, requiring the employment of a semiconducting gel to extend conduction between skin and electrons. The procedure is shown in the diagram below:
